Simien & Miniex law firm announces scholarship winners

LAFAYETTE, Louisiana (KLFY) Simien and Miniex law firms, a Lafayette-based law firm, have announced the winners of the Virginia Miniex and Margo St. Julian Simien scholarships.

The financial scholarships, which have been around for 25 years, were created to honor the beliefs of Ms. Virginia Miniex and Ms. Margo St. Julian Simien that obtaining a good education is essential in the life of a young person and that ‘it creates a solid foundation to prepare them for the future.

The 2021 winners are:

Ms. Alahnnah Broussard attending the University of Louisiana at Monroe majoring in Pre-Pharmacy. Broussard recently graduated from Opelousas High School where she had a GPA of 3.44 and an ACT composite score of 20;

Ms. Amaya Simpson who attends Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge majoring in pre-medicine and biology. Simpson recently graduated from St. Martinville High School where she had a GPA of 3.92 and an ACT composite score of 24;

Ms. Camryn Broussard who attends Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge majoring in pre-dentistry and biology. Broussard recently graduated from Lycée Opelousas where she had a GPA of 4.23 and an ACT composite score of 23.

The Legacy Prize, given to a relative of Ms. Miniex or Ms. Simien, was awarded to Thaddious Miniex, the grandson of Virginia Miniex, a Beau Chene High School graduate with a GPA of 2.8.
