Lawrence Bishnoi unable to obtain legal assistance; SC hearing on July 11
New Delhi, June 27: The Supreme Court said on Monday it would hear a plea from the father of defendant Lawrence Bishnoi challenging the transit dismissal to Punjab police on July 11.
According to his father’s lawyer, Sangram Singh, Lawrence does not receive legal representation in Mansa, Punjab.
On Monday, the bench of Judge Suryakant and Judge JB Pardiwala scheduled the hearing for July 11, 2022 and said that as the murder took place in Punjab, the Punjab Police should investigate the case.
The higher court further ordered Lawrence’s father’s lawyer to contact the Punjab and Haryana High Court for legal assistance. Lawyer Sangram Singh, who represented Lawrence’s father, raised the issue on Monday and said keeping Lawrence in Punjab police custody was not in accordance with the law and illegal.

On June 14, the Patiala House court in Delhi authorized Punjab police to arrest mobster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala. The court also allowed the Punjab Police to carry out a medical examination of the accused Lawrence Bishnoi before his departure from Delhi and before his appearance at the relevant court in CJM, Mansa, Punjab.
While allowing the Punjab Police’s claims, the Delhi court said that “Plaintiff/SP Investigative Officer Dharamveer Singh and Investigating Agency have been instructed to take all appropriate measures for safety and the safety of Defendant Lawrence Bishnoi during transit to the production of Defendant Lawrence Bishnoi at the relevant court in Mansa, Punjab.”
According to the petition filed by the Punjab Police, Lawrence Bishnoi is one of the main conspirators in the murder of singer Sidhu Moosewala and the confession of the arrested defendant was recorded in which it was clearly stated that Lawrence Bishnoi had charged the co-defendant with to carry out the “planned assassination of Sidhu Moose Wala.
