Free legal assistance by phone

June 18 – Legal Aid is hosting a free legal aid telephone clinic for residents of their eight-county district on Tuesday, June 21. The district includes Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Rush and Shelby counties.

The phone clinic will take place from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., but registration is required between noon and 2:00 p.m.

The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Program utilizes local volunteer lawyers, providing free legal consultations to low-income people for the provision of legal advice and assistance in promoting equal access to justice within our communities who otherwise could not afford the lawyer. of a lawyer.

People who call the Legal Aid Telephone Clinic can expect to receive a brief consultation to answer general and eviction questions, offer legal information, or receive other limited pro se advice or assistance, over the phone. .

A volunteer lawyer will return calls to registrants. Individuals must be available between 5:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to respond to a call from a lawyer.
